Worth having a dedicated pouch with high performin
By: Jon on 26 May 2023This is a great purpose built pouch that will protect the shears as well as your surrounding nylon gear from getting chewed up. The entire pouch is double stitched, the opening of the pouch is also very well stitched and durable enough that it will not wear out with repeated insert/removal of the shears. The hook/loop+snap button is quick to remove, and is a double secure method for retaining your shears. Although it’s not going to be as fast to re-secure the shears as a simple shock cord retaining loop that slides over the shear handle, the good thing is that it won't be bumped off as easily. The pouch is 5" tall, takes up 1 column of Molle and 3 rows (not including the velcro Molle closure), which is great for attaching it to a cummerbund, belt, and most IFAK’s will have a column of Molle available to mount shears. It's cool that the shears are included. The shears are medium sized, made by Aero Medical, about 5” of blade length or and are a good balance between size and cutting capability. I tested them out and they did the job just fine against clothing, webbing, cordage, and cardboard. This is a great alternative to just sticking shears into exposed Molle webbing, and ensures you have quick and consistent access and the ability to securely hold on to them during movement and activity.
